Rapid urban growth and increasing citizen expectations created the need for a technology-driven approach to urban management in Aurangabad. The city required a unified digital platform that could integrate multiple civic functions, improve coordination between departments, and enable faster decision-making through real-time data insights.
Managing diverse city operations such as public safety, transportation, waste management, citizen services, and infrastructure monitoring required a centralized framework capable of collecting, analyzing, and utilizing information from multiple sources. Traditional systems lacked the ability to provide comprehensive visibility and coordinated response mechanisms across different departments.
The project also involved implementing technology solutions across a large urban environment with multiple stakeholders, including municipal authorities, law enforcement agencies, transport departments, and service providers. Ensuring seamless integration of multiple applications, establishing reliable connectivity, and creating a scalable technology backbone were critical requirements.
The implementation required a robust architecture capable of supporting large-scale data generation from surveillance cameras, sensors, smart devices, and citizen-facing applications while ensuring reliability, security, and operational continuity.
The Aurangabad Smart City Project was a major urban transformation initiative aimed at leveraging advanced technologies to improve city operations, enhance citizen services, and create a safer, smarter, and more connected urban ecosystem. Selected under the Government of India’s Smart Cities Mission, the project was implemented through Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL), with Allied Digital serving as the Master Systems Integrator (MSI) in consortium with KEC (RPG Group company).
The project focused on establishing an integrated technology framework covering Command & Control Centre operations, city surveillance, smart mobility, digital citizen services, environmental monitoring, city-wide connectivity, and data-driven governance. Allied Digital’s scope included the implementation of critical smart city infrastructure such as the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Data Centre, cloud-based solutions, city surveillance systems, smart bus infrastructure, city Wi-Fi, digital displays, kiosks, and environmental sensors.
Through the integration of IoT, analytics, automation, and digital platforms, the initiative enabled city authorities to gain real-time visibility, improve operational efficiency, and deliver enhanced services to citizens.
As the Master Systems Integrator, Allied Digital designed and implemented a comprehensive smart city technology ecosystem for Aurangabad. The solution involved setting up the City Operations Centre, Police Command and Control Centre, Data Centre infrastructure, city network, and multiple technology-enabled civic applications.
A centralized Command and Control Centre was established to provide authorities with a unified view of city operations. The platform enabled monitoring of surveillance systems, intelligent analytics, emergency response mechanisms, and integrated city applications to support faster and more informed decision-making.
The project included the deployment of city surveillance infrastructure with approximately 700 CCTV cameras, along with ANPR and RLVD cameras to enhance traffic monitoring, enforcement capabilities, and public safety. Intelligent video analytics enabled automated detection and generation of alerts for relevant events, helping authorities improve situational awareness and response efficiency.
Allied Digital also implemented smart mobility solutions, including Smart Bus infrastructure with Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), smart bus stops, passenger information systems, emergency call boxes, and surveillance capabilities. Additional solutions included outdoor digital displays, kiosks, public Wi-Fi, biometric attendance systems, citizen applications, and integrations with e-governance platforms.
The project also included the establishment of Data Centre and cloud-based infrastructure to support various smart city applications. The integrated architecture enabled centralized data collection, analytics, reporting, and operational management across multiple city functions.
The Aurangabad Smart City Project enabled the city administration to transition towards a more intelligent and data-driven approach to urban management. The Integrated Command and Control Centre provided authorities with improved visibility into city operations, enabling better coordination, faster response, and enhanced service delivery.
The deployment of surveillance systems, intelligent analytics, and digital infrastructure strengthened public safety capabilities and improved monitoring of critical areas across the city. Technology-enabled solutions helped enhance traffic management, citizen engagement, and operational efficiency across various municipal functions.
The project created a scalable digital foundation that supports future smart city initiatives by enabling integration of additional applications, IoT devices, and analytics platforms. Through this engagement, Allied Digital demonstrated its capability as a Master Systems Integrator in delivering large-scale smart city projects that combine infrastructure, automation, analytics, and digital governance.
